Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival is one of the most traditional film festivals in Europe and Asia. It is also the oldest and longest-running film festival in Turkey.
It is hosted by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey's contributions. The festival is organized by ANSET for one week every year in autumn. It aims to support Turkish Cinema materially and morally.
Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, whose foundations were laid in 1953 with a theatrical performance staged during a student trip to the Ancient City of Aspendos, continued to reward many famous artists who have contributed to the cinema industry and devoted their lives to the profession. On its journey that began in 1964 with Dr. Avni Tolunay, it has become one of the most important stops on its career ladder.
Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival has developed over the years and turned into a unique adventure where the heart of the national cinema beats. It is described as the 'Oscars of Turkey'. During the festival, awards are given in the National Feature Film Competition, International Feature Film Competition, National Documentary Film Competition, National Short Feature Film Competition.
The festival is an integral part of the city's identity and which the people of Antalya look forward to every year with curiosity and impatience. It hosts the actors and actresses of Yeşilçam Cinema, whom people from all walks of life embrace with love, the popular actors of today's cinema world, the young talents who are shining stars and the world-famous directors. Throughout, it brings together the most respected examples of domestic and foreign cinema with moviegoers.
Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival makes great contributions to the cinema industry. Antalya Film Forum, which the festival started with the aim of helping Turkish films open to the international market, has made Antalya the most important national industrial center of our cinema thanks to its support to many independent and young filmmakers. In contrast, many domestic productions that have received awards in national and international festivals have emerged.
Also organized as part of the festival, Altın Portakal Cinema School inspires future filmmakers by supporting them on their way to their dreams. Young people meet with the leading names of the cinema industry in the courses they attend and benefit from their experiences and knowledge.
Antalya takes on a completely different atmosphere during the festival. Every year, the festival is held with a different theme and is followed closely by the press community. On the first day of the festival, enthusiastic moments are experienced during the traditional parade, where the artists, riding in classic cars, greet the people of Antalya lined up on the streets. The magnificent opening and closing ceremonies, with thousands of people and concerts by famous artists, and the red carpet where the stars compete for elegance add a different color to the festival.
Revealing Turkey's artistic potential, the power of Turkish Cinema, the value and success of artists, the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival continues on its way as an international culture and art organization.
