Muratpaşa Municipality has organized the Kaleiçi Old Town Festival since 2016 to introduce Kaleiçi. It is one of the most important symbols of Antalya's urban identity to the whole world and to preserve its deep-rooted cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations.
The festival brings together ancient cities such as Kaleiçi around the world and raises awareness of history and cultural awareness in people. The festival has been held in Italy, Poland, Germany, Spain, Czechia, France, Ireland, Russia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Serbia, Kosovo, since the first year it took place. It creates a cultural mosaic by hosting cities with ancient living cities of countries like Lithuania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Palestine, Pakistan, Georgia and TRNC.
During the festival, all participants can introduce the historical past, traditions and customs of the ancient cities, and the cultural texture of Antalya and the world.
Kaleiçi Old Town Festival turns the streets and squares of Kaleiçi into a carnival where history, culture, art and entertainment intertwine. It is the traditional cortege that starts from Karaalioğlu Park and continues from Atatürk Street along the Kaleiçi walls and enters the ancient city from the Üç Kapılar. With activities such as street art performances and dance shows, concerts by famous artists, theater performances, tours in historical streets, autograph sessions, interviews, exhibitions, and workshops, the participants spend days full of joy, enthusiasm and fun in a festive atmosphere.
Kaleiçi Old Town Festival symbolizes peace, friendship, and brotherhood. It continues to make a name for itself worldwide as a festival where countries build cultural bridges and strengthen their ties.
