Damlataş Cave is in the Alanya district, and its reputation exceeds the district. It is on the west coast of Alanya Castle, 3 km from Alanya city center. There is a small bazaar around the cave, with a beach in front of it.
The cave found in 1948 during the opening of a quarry for the stones to be used in the construction of the port. It has been under protection since the day it was discovered. At the same time, it is the first cave in Turkey to be opened to tourism.
The cave was named Damlataş due to the water drops that drip from the stalactites. It has a 50-meter passage at the entrance. After the passage with a height of approximately 15 meters, a cylindrical cavity is reached and descended to the cave's floor from here.
The stalactites and stalagmites, whose formations date back 15,000 years, adorn the cave, which draws attention with striking beauty fascinate visitors at first sight. The stalactites and stalagmites of different lengths, each more impressive than the other, intersect in some places, creating vivid and exquisite views.
Damlataş Cave, whose temperature remains 22 degrees in summer and winter, can be visited easily in all seasons. The cave is also very famous for its air for asthma patients. Due to the carbon dioxide, which is 8-10 times more than usual in the cave's atmosphere, and the high humidity of ninety-five percent, many asthma patients are treated in the cave for 21 days, 4 hours a day, under the supervision of a doctor.
