Sıçan Island is between Konyaaltı and Beldibi, 10 km from Antalya Kaleiçi Marina. The island, which takes the attention of diving enthusiasts, is also one of the base regions for boat and yacht tourism.
The island was named "Rat Island" because it thins from the coast to the south and resembles a rat looking north. It is among the common rumors that have been told for years that countless rats are escaping from boats and breeding on the island.
The west side of Sıçan Island, facing the coast, has a shallow depth of 8 meters, and the bottom structure is generally sandy. The most exciting part of Sican Island is the northeastern side, whose rocky bottom structure goes down to 22 meters.
The presence of a small cave in the east of the island, which attracts diving enthusiasts thanks to the deep blue clear sea, is an unexpected pleasant surprise, especially for divers who dive for the first time in the region.
There is a long fortification wall on the western part of the island, which is difficult to climb because the rocks are very sharp and slippery, which can be noticed even from the Kemer Road. Although it is said that pirates built the walls, there is no definite evidence as to who made them. It is also said that the island was used as a ship shelter during Sultan Mehmet Reşad. Visitors approaching the shores of Sıçan Island, which is known as the region with the highest number of seagulls in Antalya, are greeted with the wings of hundreds of seagulls.
