The Suna & İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum is in two registered buildings in the Barbaros District of Kaleiçi as a cultural property to be protected. Established with the mission of preserving the elements of our traditional culture and transferring them to future generations, the museum serves as one of the most exclusive private museums in Antalya.
The first of these structures was meticulously restored between 1993 and 1995 after Suna and İnan Kıraç purchased it because it was very dilapidated. It is a two-storey Turkish house with a traditional outer sofa. After the necessary repairs were made and decorated with hand-drawn ornaments, the house was organized as an ethnography museum where sections from the life of Kaleiçi in the second half of the 19th century are presented together with special effects. In the rooms, items that reflect the traditional Turkish Folk Culture, such as offering coffee, groom's shave and henna night, are discussed.
The second building is an Orthodox church known to have been built in the name of Aya Yorgi. The ceiling and interior walls of the rectangular building are decorated with hand-drawn decorations. Various cultural and artistic works from the Suna and İnan Kıraç collections are exhibited. Various cultural events are held in the church, which was organized as an exhibition space after the restoration.
Suna & İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum, which serves the mission of correctly introducing the traditional architectural understanding and the lifestyle of the period and transferring it to future generations, is among the museums that must be visited in terms of its cultural richness.
