Şarapsa Han is on the Antalya-Alanya highway, 15 km west of Alanya, on the banks of the Serapsu Stream. The building is referred to as Şarafsa and Sarafsa in various sources. It is also known as Serapsu Han.
The Han is from the 13th century and was built by the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan II. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev on the Historical Silk Road starts from China and continues to the West as a caravanserai to revive trade and provide security.
The rectangular planned structure was built east-west on approximately one acre of land. It is 71 meters long and 12 meters wide. Its walls are built with large cut stones. Its illumination is provided by crenelated windows and four square openings in the vaults. Its durability has been increased by placing an external buttress on the north and south walls. This facade design seen in the building makes it look like a castle or fortress. The last section to the left of the inn is a masjid, the door of which opens to the north, and is also a hospital. One of the most striking parts of the building is the Crown Gate, with two buttresses from its sides. A five-line inscription is written in Arabic with Seljuk Thuluth Calligraphy on the door.
The magnificent Şarapsa Han, full of fine workmanship of the Seljuk Period, is one of the works that reveal the unique architecture of the period.
