Located in Gürsu District of Konyaaltı district of Antalya, the Roman Bath is one of the oldest ruins in the district. Hamam, MS. It was built in the 3rd century and was destroyed and rebuilt after a fire in the 6th century. The bath, which underwent major structural and functional changes until the 14th century, is also known as the 'Black Church' among the people.
The walls of the bath, which were built with rubble stones and a significant part of which are still standing, are covered with marble slabs, and the inner parts of the vaults are covered with white plaster. The bath, which has all the features of the Roman Empire architecture and is thought to be built with tiles, consists of vaulted rooms, each of which has a different function. These are the locker room, the cold, the warm, the heat and the sports area. All of the spaces have underfloor and wall heating systems. Hot air circulation in the walls is realized by vents made with cladding plates placed on nails.
The Roman Bath was declared a 1st degree Archaeological Site in 1998. Archaeological excavations and soundings were carried out in the bathhouse by the Antalya Museum in 2009 with the support of Konyaaltı Municipality.
