Çelebi Sultan Mehmed Mosque

Çelebi Sultan Mehmed Mosque is in the Yeni Emek District of Kepez. It is one of the central districts of Antalya. The mosque combines the style of Ottoman Architecture with today's lines, and where the most beautiful examples of Turkish-Islamic Art are opened in 2018.

The design of Çelebi Sultan Mehmed Mosque, the only mosque in Antalya and the second mosque in Turkey with its chandelier-free feature, was based on the Ottoman Architecture of the late 14th century and the latter transition period of the 15th and 16th centuries.

Manavgat Stone was used on the mosque's exterior, where approximately 5,000 people could pray at the same time, and Finike Limestone was used on the interior. The mosque's minbar with muqarnas inlaid, mihrab, and the crown door, the entrance to the main section, is made of Marmara Marble. 16th and 17th century Ottoman Marble Art patterns were used on the mihrab and pulpit. There are giant candles next to the altar and the traditional balance stone, which indicates the earthquake and whether the building is in balance.

The pencil work and calligraphy patterns on the mosque's dome and the wall frescoes also bear 16th and 17th century Ottoman Art traces. Blue and turquoise, the colors of the Mediterranean, were used in the designs.
In the Çelebi Sultan Mehmed Mosque, where decorative arts such as marble, tile, chitekari, stained glass, calligraphy, nakkaş, and kundekari are masterfully applied, delicate and meticulous handwork is striking. In this respect, the mosque contains many details where the riches that the Turks brought to Islamic art can be seen.

Olive trees were planted in the mosque's garden, which consists of a total area of 17 thousand square meters, 11 thousand square meters of which is green area, 2 thousand square meters of prayer area and 4 thousand square meters of courtyard sections. In the western courtyard, there is the Bosnia Sabil with two faucets, the original of which is in the Baş Bazaar of Bosnia and Herzegovina, built-in 1753, and the Laleli Mosque Fountain of the Laleli Mosque, which is in the Laleli Mosque in Istanbul. It was built by the original technique with solid marble masonry.
