The ancient city of Kagrai is estimated to date back about two thousand years. It is in Cevizli Neighborhood, approximately 35 km from the Akseki district. In changing the names of the settlements in Turkey, the 2400-year-old name Kagrai was changed to Yeşilköy and then to Cevizli in 1932.
In the ancient city was registered as a 1st Degree Archaeological Site in 2002 by the Kagrai Conservation Board, archaeological field studies were carried out for the first time in the 1800s. The rocky hills rising behind the Cevizli settlement area are where the ancient city settlement is. A wall in the south surrounds all three hills. The tower belonging to the wall is located on the middle hill next to the Kolağası Sarı Şeyh Hüseyin Efendi Tomb.
The oldest documents belonging to the Kagrai Ancient City are the remains and inscriptions from the 1st century. The Temple of Zeus, located in the ancient city and built by the Pisidians, is one of the oldest structures in the region. Cevizli Park features a decorated and cassette ceiling block, a Corinthian capital and architectural fragments. Some column fragments were also found on the cemetery walls. The female figure blush and many patterned stones are among the other important works that attract attention.
Today, studies in the area continue to increase the region's tourism potential, with great historical richness. Cevizli Neighborhood continues to be the center of attention and blends historical and natural beauties with a modern look.
