Kumluca is about 95 km away from the city center of Antalya. The Mediterranean Sea surrounds it in the south, Korkuteli in the north, Finike in the west, Kemer in the east and Elmalı in the northwest.
The region where the district is has hosted different civilizations since ancient times. It was dominated by the Solims, Lycians, Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans. In 1830, during the Ottoman Empire Period, the first settlement of Kumluca, approximately 5 km east of the town center. It was established under the name Sarı Kavak. Kumluca was first in to Finike. It became a district in 1958 as its population increased and developed.
Kumluca is built on a fertile plain with alluvial soils, surrounded by mountains on three sides and extending from the sea to the north which spreads over 1253 km2. The district is mountainous in the north and plain in the south. It has many natural riches in terms of its geographical features.
Kumluca makes a great contribution to the economy of Antalya and Turkey with its greenhouse cultivation. Since the availability of climate, soil and water resources, the fertile Kumluca Plain resembles a sea covered with greenhouses where many vegetables and fruits are grown.
The district offers many options in terms of tourism with its 30 km coastline. Famous for their magnificent beaches, clear waters, lush nature, and unique holiday concepts, Adrasan and Olympos is the region's most popular resorts. There are important ancient cities such as Corydella, Rhodiapolis, Idebessos and Melanippe in the region, which are very rich in history. Untouched coves have not lost their naturalness. They are indispensable routes for boat tours and diving enthusiasts. In addition, the district is on the route of the world-famous Lycian Walking Road. It is flooded by local and foreign tourists every year.
